Heaven Is Where Passion Meets Precision

At El Cielo, our wines are the result of the passion and precision our specialists invest in the wine-making process and the art of wine pairing. Each handcrafted wine tells an authentic story of fragrance, flavor, texture, color, and time. Let our knowledgeable winemakers and sommeliers share this story with you and connect you even deeper to the riches found in Valle de Guadalupe.

Jesus Rivera, Enologist/Winemaker

Started to develop a passion for winemaking at an early age and has created extraordinary wines for more than two decades. Born in Valle de Guadalupe where wine has been worked for through many generations, Jesus grew grapes with his father and grandfather for as long as he can remember. His passion for winemaking led him to train with Dr. Víctor Torres Alegre, who holds a Doctorate in Oenology in Bordeaux, as well as with the famous French oenologist Michel Rolland, who has stood out for advising diverse projects in Bordeaux, Argentina, the United States and in more than ten countries, he is a reference in modern Oenology worldwide. Jesús Rivera's style is a combination of the use of state-of-the-art technology and Old-World winemaking techniques. As our Chief Winemaker since 2010, Jesús has been making award-winning wines from an approach that allows each blend to express the typicity of the grape and the terroir, respecting the oenological processes with excellent care both in the fermentation process and in barrel aging. He has proudly transmitted his passion to his son Jesus Jr., who now works with him.

Jesús Rivera Jr., Assistant Winemaker

Like his father, Jesús Rivera Jr. was raised in the Guadalupe Valley vineyards. For Jesus, carrying his father's legacy is both a joy and an honor. He was certified in Gastronomy and Oenology by the Autonomous University of Baja California (UABC), having the opportunity to expand his knowledge in Spain. Continuing the tradition, Jesus worked on the viticulture project of his family "Vinos DJ Rivera" and developed an even more in-depth understanding of the unique qualities of the land. Beginning in 2013, father and son have created magic as a team at El Cielo, where the family name will forever be associated with the growth in quality of Baja California wines.
